Environmental target to reduce emissions
Securitas is the first global security company to have its environmental target validated by Science Based Targets initiative.
Securitas’ environmental impact is relatively small, and we are reducing it further by creating more sustainable future security solutions through an extensive modernization and digitization of the business. As a leader in the industry, having environmental targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative is a natural step for us.
Focus on reducing emissions
Securitas has committed to reduce absolute scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions with 42 percent by 2030 from a 2022 base year. This ambitious target aligns with the 1.5-degree goal set by the Paris Agreement. We have reported our CO2 emissions through CDP for many years and have now increased the reporting to cover all relevant categories in scope 3. The security industry is not one of the larger emitters, but we still want to be part of the solution and contribute to make our world a more sustainable place.
A basic requirement is that we follow all prevailing laws, international agreements and other regulations that impact our operations.
Roadmaps and action plans to reach the targets
Roadmaps and action plans for reducing emissions include changing to hybrid or electric vehicles where possible, promoting eco-driving, changing to renewable energy, finding alternative employee commuting solutions and working together with suppliers to reduce energy consumption in security equipment.
Securitas a participant in CDP
Securitas has reported to CDP, a global reporting system for climate change, since 2011. In 2024, Securitas received a score of B. The average score for companies the peer group Commercial and consumer services is C, as is the global average score for all companies in the CDP climate change program. This score is based on an evaluation of the company's activities in the areas of climate change, adaptation and transparency.
